Active Withernsea

Active Withernsea is part of a pilot programme from Sport England aimed at increasing participation in physical, mental and social activities. The goal is for people to live longer and healthier lives by living more actively.
Our golden rule is nothing is done unless the residents of Withernsea have asked for it. This means we listen and understand what is important to the people who live in the town. We are keen to work with people who would like to help create a happier, healthier Withernsea.

Withernsea Organ Society

Now in their 45th year of bringing entertainment to the town. Formed in 1974 by a group of like-minded amateurs who met in their homes to encourage each other to enjoy their kind of music it has over the years developed, and now provides the members and visitors top entertainment by professional artists both from the U.K. and continent (even had one from Australia).
They hold a concert each month, with the exception of January, this year they have twelve artists, two concerts in May. All the artists are extremely talented, and the concept that “organ” music is dull is entirely wrong, it is very entertaining. This coming year there is one of the players from the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, John Bowdler, on the day following his concert here, he is playing for a tea dance at the City Hall in Hull. Another artist who is making his first visit to Withernsea, regularly appears in Ronnie Scott’s club in London. One of Germany’s top players, Claudia Hirschfeld is including Withernsea in her tour of the U.K.. ALL THE ARTISTS ARE ABSOLUTE PROFESSIONALS. Club members pay an annual membership of £3.00 and admission for them is £5.00 guests pay £7.00. The concerts are held at the Northfield, Waxholme Road on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.45 p.m.
